The Suunto Ambit 2 Sapphire is the most rugged GPS watch ever created according to the Heart Rate Watch Company.

"This GPS watch is so rugged it's almost bombproof and the fact that Suunto had the guts to put the crystal flush with the bezel tells you just how confident they are in the toughness of their thick Sapphire crystal," says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company. He adds, "This watch weighs in at 90 grams so it is a bit heavy for running, but great for anything else."

Who It's Made For

Military personnel, mountain climbers, mountain bikers, kayakers, cyclists or anyone who requires a super tough watch that can take a beating and lose no functionality. "This is the toughest GPS watch I've ever seen and we test almost all of them," says Squire.

Who It Is Not Made For

"I really don't think this watch works well for distance running, it just has too heavy of a swing weight, but for just about everything other than running it is fine," says Squire.

Every Metric, Weather and Navigation Feature Imaginable

The Suunto Ambit 2 Sapphire offers trackback, power on the bike, weather features and over 1,000 apps to choose from. "You can run five apps on the watch concurrently, as opposed to just one for the original Ambit, thanks to the memory upgrade," says Squire.

This is the type of watch that, outside of battery replacements, will likely last a decade or more says Squire. "If you are looking for tough with all the heart rate, speed, distance and navigation data you can use then this is your watch," says Squire.

The Suunto Ambit 2 black has been hot as a pistol since its introduction a few weeks ago. In fact, it has been so popular that it completely sold out, according to the Heart Rate Watch Company.

"These watches are super durable and have more features than any other GPS watches on the market today," says Rusty Squire. He adds, "Suunto is really establishing themselves as a real leader in the GPS watch category and the Ambit 2 is entirely responsible for this metamorphosis."

WHAT IS DIFFERENT FROM THE FIRST AMBIT

"The anodized black bezel has been rounded and this means the color won't rub off over time like my Ambit 1 did after one year of use," says Squire. He adds, "Nobody else talks about this stuff because none of our competition tests these products long-term like we do."

The Suunto Ambit 2 adds weather features, more memory with the ability to run up to 5 apps concurrently, a Fused Altimeter and countdown timer that were not present on the first Ambit. "It also adds swimming laps and strokes, bike power, and multisport transition features," says Squire.

JUNE 1ST ARRIVAL - ORDER NOW

The new Suunto Ambit 2 black is due back in stock June 1st but interested buyers are encouraged to put their orders in now as the watch has been very popular and can be subject to stock outages. "We don't charge customer credit cards until we ship, so getting orders placed in advance is always the best policy", according to Squire.

"This GPS watch is so much tougher than the Garmin 910XT that it forms a very interesting option for triathlon, multisport athletes and mountaineers," says Squire.
