Suunto Ambit Voted Best Mountaineering and Skiing Watch For 2012 - Recent Updates Tip The Scales
The Suunto Ambit is the best mountaineering and skiing watch ever invented according to the Heart Rate Watch Company.
"I set a world record in 1998 becoming the first skier in history to surpass 300,000 vertical feet and 100,000 meters in one day", says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Comapny. He adds,"I wish this technology had existed then because the Suunto Ambit is truly amazing".
The Suunto Ambit has upgraded with the release of Update 1.8 by adding active maps it is also the only advanced altimeter, barometer compass watch that offers advanced heart rate based training features.
"The more Suunto keeps evolving this watch the more I like it over the Garmin fenix, it is better looking and has a lot more training features", says Squire. He adds, "We'll announce our GPS watch of the year in November and I would not be surprized to see Suunto take it".
For skiers track all your vertical feet, map it all, get heart rate data and more. For mountaineering the barometric altimeter and mapping with waypoints and tracking help guide you through the nastiest weather.
"While the Garmin fenix may well catch up I can honestly say that for now, the Suunto Ambit is worth the $100 price differential plus they just added chronograph features with the most recent update", says Squire.
In the off season Ambit used as a running watch, bike computer or sports measurement device for any outdoor sport, it is even water resistant to 328 feet.
